Introduction to Advocacy
Advocacy at Children's Bureau, Inc.
The mission of Children's Bureau, Inc. is to support Indiana’s children in need. To further our mission, we allocate personnel and resources to promote positive change and improvement in social institutions, systems, legislation and practices that affect children and families.
We have a broad array of services and a workforce with extensive knowledge and professional expertise that Advocacy utilizes to influence positive changes for all children and families.
This function of the agency may be linked to Roberta West Nicholson who was a Children's Bureau board member starting in 1935 and an outspoken advocate for children. She is quoted as saying,
I don’t believe you can love your own children, unless you love all children...
