About the Program
Take C.H.A.N.C.E.S for Kids
(CHANCES)
is a three-day curriculum designed to teach mental health providers how to train
other professionals about serving families affected by Reactive Attachment Disorder
(RAD).
The concept behind this program is that providers need to take CHANCES to help
children with attachment issues.
Treating attachment issues is difficult, in part because successful treatment of
children diagnosed with RAD involves the entire family. The goals of the CHANCES
training is to equip mental health providers with tools that empower them to
better understand what it takes for a child to attach in a family.

Becoming a Trainer
This workshop is a
“training of the trainers”
curriculum. Participants in this program are asked to sign a Commitment Agreement
before being accepted into the program.
This agreement commits you to training the CHANCES curriculum, in its entirety,
to other mental health professionals at least twice in the two years after you
are trained. It also requires that you attend a one day follow-up training
between June 2010 and June 2011.
The Commitment Agreement must be signed by both you, and your CEO or agency
director. We take this commitment to train others seriously, and want this
agreement to be important not only to you, but also to the leadership in
your agency.
|
You will be expected to recruit other mental health professionals to attend the trainings
you lead. We’ll help prepare you to lead your own training by supplying you with:
- a bound copy of the entire CHANCES curriculum
- a CD containing electronic versions of the manual and PowerPoint slides
- a copy of the CAP curriculum
- a therapy toolkit
