Take CHANCES for Kids:   Part I Training
About the Program:   Take CHANCES for Kids Part 1 is a three-day curriculum designed to teach providers about serving families affected by Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD). The concept behind this program is that providers need to take CHANCES to help children with attachment issues. Treating attachment issues is difficult in part because successful treatment of children diagnosed with RAD involves the entire family. The goal of the CHANCES training is to equip providers with tools that empower them to better understand what it takes for a child to attach in a family.
Training Objectives:   As a participant of this training, you can expect to take away knowledge and treatment strategies that you'll be able to put into practice immediately.

You'll learn about:
  • Attachment Theory, the Attachment Cycle, and Emotional Regulation
  • Assessment and Intervention Techniques for Families affected by RAD
  • Coordinating Attachment and Permanency (CAP) Curriculum
Cost & Continuing Education Hours:   The training is offered at no cost to participants, thanks to funding from the Indiana Department of Child Services. Additionally, participants will also be served lunch onsite at the training facility, free of charge. The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) grants successful completers of this training 20 Approved Social Work Continuing Education Hours (CEHs).
Take CHANCES for Kids:   Part II Training
About the Program:   Take CHANCES for Kids Part 2 is a one-day follow-up program for individuals who attended the CHANCES three-day training of trainers program, and for those who they went on to train. This program is designed to go more in-depth on attachment related issues, and to give participants practical problem-solving tools for working with challenging situations. This is not a training-of-trainers. This is a day to come together with other attachment competent professionals to go into more advanced topics related to attachment.
Training Objectives:   As a participant of this training, you can expect to take away knowledge and treatment strategies that you’ll be able to put into practice immediately.

You’ll learn about:
  • The impacts of trauma of brain development
  • Assessing progress on a case study
  • A model for working through typical behaviors seen in children affected by poor attachment skills
  • Interventions for children and families
