| Purpose/Scope: |
| Full-time position (which may include weekends and overnights) for Youth Care Specialist are available at the Garrard House.

| Essential
Duties: |
| The Youth Care Specialists are responsible for direct supervision of residents, facilitating group activities and coordinating outings. Other responsibilities include: completing required documentation, implementation of treatment plans, responding to crisis situations and following daily schedules and activities, including transportation as necessary.
|
| Qualifications/Skills: |
| * 21 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent required * High school diploma or equivalent required, higher education is a plus * Experience working with adolescents in a residential setting is preferred * Ability and flexibility to work days and/or evenings and weekends * Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills required * Knowledge of medication procedures helpful * Must have a valid driver’s license and insurance

| Purpose/Scope: |
| The Part-Time, Youth Care Specialist is responsible for the coaching and supervision of residents, implementation of treatment programs, daily schedules and activities, including transportation as needed. Therapeutic interaction and responsiveness to resident and program needs are high priority. Responsible for the safety and well being of program residents.

| Essential
Duties: |
| Provide constant therapeutic care to adolescents in a Transitional Living program. *Supervise and monitor daily routines such as wake up, hygiene, meals, educational and recreational activities, and outings. *Interact and communicate with residents. *Provide fair and constructive discipline to residents per program policies. *Participate in and lead activities. *Supervise meal preparation and interact with residents during meals. *Communicate with Team Leader and co-workers concerning resident needs and concerns throughout shift and at shift change. *Keep work areas clean, neat, and sanitized. Wash, fold, and put away laundry when applicable. *Attend require training and meetings. *Assist residents in completing daily chores including room care, unit pick-up, and personal grooming. *Assist with residents educational needs. *Provide role model behavior as well as support, encouragement and guidance for residents. *Complete all required documentation including but not limited to: Incident reports, accident/illness reports, computer documentation, clothing inventories, and shift reports. *Implement various treatment plans and approaches set in place by the Treatment Team. *Dispense medication, if applicable. *Intervene in crisis situations to de-escalate and process incidents. *Conduct irregular bed checks in varying (15) minute intervals. *It is understood that each employee follows and adheres to the professional standards as outlined by your perspective professional degree or license.

| Qualifications/Skills: |
| Must be 21 years of age with a high school diploma or GED. *Experience working with adolescenets in a residential or psychiatric setting. *Good verbal and written communication skills. *Good basic computer skills. *Must have a valid driver's license and insurance. *Ability to communicate caring in a therapeutic context. *Ability to implement educational and craft activities. *Experience in working with a team. *Knowledge in behavior management and proper de-escalation. *Ability to drive the agency van. *Ability to set limits with clients, and has the conviction about the capacity of people to grow and change. *Ability to pro-actively and responsively be sensitive to community, staff, and resident cultural differences. *Ability to perform CPR and First Aid. *Knowledge of bloodbourne pathogens/universal precaution procedures.
