Children’s Bureau CEO Resigns

Ron D. Carpenter, President and CEO of Children’s Bureau, Inc. announced his resignation effective August 1, 2012 to accept a position as President of the Indiana State University Foundation.

Carpenter has been with Children’s Bureau since 1987 and has served as the President and CEO since 1997. During his tenure as CEO, Carpenter has directed organizational growth as well as board and resource development. Carpenter has been involved with fundraising, successfully completing four major capital campaigns for new buildings and endowment growth, while also increasing annual giving to the organization. Under his leadership, the Children’s Bureau has received numerous recognitions including an Indiana Achievement Award in 2000 and a Mayor’s Best of the Best Diversity Award in 2002. He has served on numerous boards including the Lacy Leadership Association, the Indiana Youth Services Association, the Greater Indianapolis Exchange Club Foundation, Cancer Support Community and the Indiana State University Board of Trustees. He has received a Distinguished Alumni award from ISU and a Distinguished Hoosier Governor’s Award. He has been a dedicated outspoken advocate for disadvantaged children throughout his adult life.

“Ron has been an incredible leader and visionary for the Children’s Bureau and we all wish him the very best as he leaves to work for his alma mater,” said Ersal Ozdemir, Chairman of the Board.

A search committee comprised of current board members, past chairpersons, and members of the community has been formed. The committee will engage a talent recruitment firm specializing in nonprofit executive placement and begin a nationwide search. Their intent is to target a replacement within 120 days.
