Optimists Visit the Children’s Shelter

by Joy Coordinator

The North Side Optimist Club visited the Children’s Shelter at the Gene Glick Family Support Center on Saturday, July 18 to get our kids back-to-school ready! The Optimists brought backpacks and school supplies and helped the kids decorate and customize their own bags.

Once the backpacks were complete, the Optimists helped the kids color, paint and draw on aprons for Children’s Bureau’s annual Celebrity Cook-Off. (Celebrities choose an apron to cook in at the event.) Seven amazing aprons were completed Saturday, some of which seem destined to catch a celebrity’s eye!
