(Indianapolis, IN, March 22, 2019) – March of Dimes Indiana Chapter has awarded a grant to Children’s Bureau to support Safe Sleep trainings, aimed at serving maternal and child health needs in Madison County. This program will provide education and safe sleep materials to over 200 families over the course of a year. This grant is one of many that March of Dimes awards in pursuit of its mission to lead the fight for the health of all moms and babies.

“We will use the March of Dimes grant to help empower expecting and new parents by educating them on safe sleep principles for newborns and infants; Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS); Shaken Baby Syndrome; updated best practices for using cribs, pacifiers, sleep sacks and other baby items. All participants will also receive an infant survival kit which includes one pack-n-play, a wearable blanket, a pacifier and take-home recommendations,” said Annie Martinez, Vice President of Communications and Development. “We are grateful to those in our community who support March of Dimes by participating in events like March for Babies and who donate in other ways. That participation and those donations make this grant possible,” she said.

Children’s Bureau is a private nonprofit that focuses on the prevention of child abuse and neglect, preservation of families and placement for children who lack safe and healthy homes.
